The Gondogoro La Trek (5,585m) is one of the most thrilling and scenic adventures in Pakistan, combining the legendary K2 Base Camp route with an epic high mountain pass crossing over the Gondogoro La. This incredible journey through the heart of the Karakoram offers unmatched views of four 8,000-meter peaks — K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I and II — along with numerous smaller peaks and glaciers.
About Gondogoro La Trek
Starting from Skardu and passing through Askole, this trek follows the famous Baltoro Glacier to Concordia — often called the “Throne Room of the Mountain Gods.” From here, trekkers ascend to the challenging Gondogoro La Pass, which connects the Hushe and Baltoro valleys, offering a breathtaking 360° panorama of K2 and its surrounding giants.
The descent into the Hushe Valley after crossing the pass adds diversity to the route, making it a perfect round-trip adventure full of ice, rock, and cultural encounters with the friendly Balti people.
Best Time for Gondogoro La Trek (2025–2026)
The best season for the Gondogoro La Trek is from mid-June to late August. During this time, the snow is stable on the high pass, and the weather is clear for the best views of the Karakoram peaks.
